Greening CommitteeThe Greening Committee meets on the 2nd Wednesday of each month (and during break-out sessions at the monthly neighborhood association meetings) at Second Stories (5530 SE 122nd Ave.) The Greening Committee meets from 7:30 to 8:15pm Chair: Dolores Wood - e-mail her pgna_greening [at] yahoo [dot] com (here). The mission of the Greening Committee is to improve the quality of life within the Powellhurst-Gilbert Neighborhood Association's boundaries through the enhancement and protection of the natural environment. Some of our goals are to:
. Work toward a greener cleaner civic ecology . Identify environmentally fragile areas within PGNA boundaries . Make recommendations to retain and/or restore environmentally fragile areas . Implement efforts to benefit environmentally fragile areas . Address flood control issues by restoring wetlands . Work with the Planning Commission, Portland Parks and others to retain and restore green spaces, wetlands and parks . Remove invasive species throughout the neighborhood and replant with native species . Develop new and existing parks . Develop community gardens and urban agriculture . Develop community tool shed . Establish a farmers market . Work toward proper water mitigation throughout the PGNA area . Conduct tree and shrub plantings . Conduct neighborhood clean-ups . Collaborate with overlap neighborhoods to address environmental issues within overlap areas . Promote green jobs in the neighborhood
