Mark White - Powellhurst-Gilbert Neighborhood Association President
Mark White is the President of the Powellhurst-Gilbert Neighborhood Association. He is also an active member of: the Portland Housing Advisory Commission (PHAC) the Lents Town Center Urban Renewal Advisory Committee (LTCURAC), the East Portland Action Plan (EPAP), the Portland/Multnomah Food Policy Council (FPC), and the Multnomah County Advisory Committee on Sustainability and Innovation. Supporting committees include: LTCURA Budget Committee, EPAP Economic Development Committee, and the FPC Urban Food Production and Distribution Committee. Most recently, he was approved to serve as a member of the City of Portland 2011 Charter Commission and was asked to co-chair the Commission.
He is also one of four Neighborhood-Based Consultants supporting the Promise Neighborhood Research Consortium, a national collaboration of researchers and scientists seeking to address poverty and its collateral effects through evidenced-based practices, especially as it pertains to children. He is also on the Board of Directors for SE Works and is the creator and primary planner for the East Portland Exposition, a two day community and multicultural event held in East Portland each July.
Mark and his partner Billy live in the heart of the Powellhurst-Gilbert neighborhood with their two dogs Ari and Dani.
